Our Pastor
The body of Christ received a gift from God when Moses B. Herring was born in Macon, Georgia to the parentage of Reverend Wallace and Lena Herring. Called to preach at the age of 18, he was ordained two years later in the Baptist Church through the leadership of Pastor Wallace Herring and the Glorious Hope Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia. Since that time, he has served congregations in both Macon and Atlanta, Georgia, and Glenwood, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Education from Beulah Heights University in Atlanta, Georgia graduating Cum Laude. He went on to undertake graduate studies at Southern Christian University in Montgomery, Alabama, matriculated at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and received a Masters of Divinity from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During his academic pursuits, he was the recipient of many honors, accolades and scholarships.
Pastor Moses B. Herring’s God given anointing to preach and teach from a philosophical and theological platform strengthens, encourages and increases the faith of people across the nation. He is a nationally sought after preacher, teacher, revivalist, lecturer and mentor in the body of Christ. Wise beyond his years, he was selected to pastor the Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood, in Glenwood, Illinois in August of 2007 at the age of 26. Since then the church has experienced tremendous growth, increasing from 500 members to presently 1,100 members since Pastor Herring’s tenure.
Since Pastor Herring’s first electrifying sermon, Calvary’s inter-generational congregation has relished in the powerful messages from this amazing and biblically astute young leader. His intense, down to earth oratorical style stimulates people spiritually on all levels of life. Many just love his practical, yet compelling scriptural approach to bringing the Word of God. This approach and style reveal his love for the Word of God and His people, and is responsible for the astonishing growth of Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood. Some have deemed this innovative, vibrant, spirit-driven visionary “a force to be reckoned with.” Pastor Herring’s vision for Calvary is to be a place of spiritual development, dedicated to nurturing the entire man by focusing on faith, building family relationships, and facilitating financial responsibility and physical fitness.
When not preaching, teaching, studying God’s Word or helping God’s people enter into the divine purpose in their lives, Pastor Herring enjoys reading, exercising and spending time with his friends and family. Especially his high school sweetheart and wife LaCresha Herring, who is a graduate of Florida State University and holds a Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities, and their first born child, Hannah Geralena Herring born in June of 2008. Pastor Herring and his family currently reside in Glenwood, Illinois. Pastor Herring is a man who loves God and loves helping God’s people fulfill their divine purpose in life.
